Handball Career

I am a dedicated and professional handball player, serving as the goalkeeper for my university team at the College of Engineering Guindy (CEG), Anna University. My journey in handball began in my second year of college in 2022, and since then, I have been committed to excellence in the sport.

Achievements#

Here are some of my achievements in handball from 2022 - till date

  • PSG Tech Trophy 2023 : Our team secured second place, a testament to our hard work and coordination. As the goalkeeper, I played a crucial role in our defensive strategy, ensuring that we maintained a strong front against our competitors.
  • Thiagarajar Handball Trophy: Achieved third place, demonstrating our consistent performance and competitive spirit. My reflexes and decision-making under pressure were vital in securing this position.
  • SSM Tournament: Secured second place, reflecting our team's synergy and strategic gameplay. My ability to anticipate opponents' moves and coordinate with the defense line was key to our success.
  • Zonal Winners 2023: Leading our team to victory in the zonals was a significant milestone. As the goalkeeper, I was pivotal in executing our defensive plans and motivating the team to perform at their best.
  • PSG Tech Trophy 2024: Secured third place, showcasing our resilience and improvement. My role involved intense preparation, studying our opponents, and maintaining peak physical and mental condition.
  • Handball Challengers League 2024: As the captain of team Fakers, I led us to secure third place. This role enhanced my leadership skills, as I was responsible for strategizing, motivating the team, and making crucial decisions during matches.
  • Tamilvanan Memorial Trophy 2023: Achieved third place, highlighting our competitive edge and dedication. My performance as the goalkeeper was instrumental in our defense, contributing significantly to our overall standing.

  • St. Peters Tournament: Participated in 2023 and 2024, gaining valuable experience and exposure to different playing styles and strategies. These tournaments helped me refine my skills and adapt to varied game situations.
  • Buck Tournament: Participated in 2022 and 2023, where I faced diverse teams and honed my goalkeeping techniques. The experience from these tournaments has been crucial in my development as a player.
  • Zonals: Participated in 2022, which was an essential stepping stone in my handball career, providing a platform to showcase my skills and compete at a higher level.
  • Interzonals: Participated in 2023, competing against top teams from different zones. This experience was invaluable in understanding high-level competition and improving my game.

Leadership and Event Management#

In addition to my role as a player, I have taken on leadership responsibilities by captaining my team and organizing major tournaments. These experiences have significantly enhanced my soft skills, particularly in leadership, teamwork, and event management.

Tamilvanan Memorial Trophy#

Every March, I help organize the Tamilvanan Memorial Trophy, a prestigious handball tournament where teams from various colleges register and compete. My responsibilities include:

Event Management Responsibilities#

Planning and Execution

From conceptualizing the event to its final execution, I oversee all aspects, ensuring every detail is meticulously planned.

Hospitality Management

Ensuring hospitality facilities for all participating teams, including accommodation, meals, and transportation, to provide a seamless experience.

Stakeholder Coordination

Working with college administration, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure smooth operations and successful event management.

Promotion and Registration

Managing the promotion of the tournament and the registration process, ensuring wide participation and competitive spirit.

Match Scheduling and Officiating

Overseeing the scheduling of matches and ensuring the presence of qualified referees to maintain the integrity of the tournament.

Handball Challengers League (HBCL)#

From February to March each year, I coordinate the Handball Challengers League (HBCL), which features six teams: Fakers, Freaks, Hustlers, Hunks, and Hawks. My role involves:

Organizing the League Structure and Schedule

Creating a fair and competitive league structure, ensuring all teams have equal opportunities to compete.

Team Registrations and Communications

Managing team registrations, communicating with team captains, and addressing any concerns to ensure a smooth process.

Event Management

Overseeing the overall conduct of the league, including match arrangements, scorekeeping, and resolving disputes.

Promotion and Engagement

Promoting the league within the college and beyond, engaging the student community, and ensuring high spectator turnout.

Sponsorship and Funding

Securing sponsorships and managing the budget to ensure the league's financial stability and success.

Leadership

Balancing academics, sports, and event management has refined my ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. I have developed strong organizational skills, enabling me to juggle multiple responsibilities without compromising on quality.
